East Midlands Airport

Every year, East Midlands Airport connects over 5 million passengers with the world, serving more than 100 destinations.

Winner of five prestigious travel awards in 2007, including Airport of the Year, Best UK Airport and World’s Leading Eco Friendly Airport, our airport is a vibrant economic hub, providing over 6,900 jobs. We’re the regional gateway to national and international markets, helping attract major corporations including DHL, Royal Mail, TNT and UPS.

As the UK’s primary pure freight airport, we proudly support some of the UK’s biggest manufacturing and retail brands.

Based in the heart of England, East Midlands Airport is easily accessible by train, car and coach from the M1, A42/M42 and A50. All of which makes us the perfect choice for travellers from across East Midlands, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Northamptonshire, South Yorkshire and beyond.

Manchester Airports Group

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is the country’s largest British-owned airport operator. Our four airports - Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside – currently serve a total of almost 28 million passengers every year.

The group also runs thriving businesses in property development and management, baggage handling, car parking, airport security, fire fighting, engineering and motor transport.

MAG is publicly owned by the ten local authorities of Greater Manchester and is privately managed on their behalf.

Regional airports. National impact

MAG is more than just a regional success story. As the largest British-owned airport operator, we play a major role in UK aviation. Nearly 28 million passengers used our airports in 2005, contributing £3.2 billion to the UK economy and supporting over 130,000 jobs. According to independent analysis, our businesses could grow still further to generate £6.3 billion in value and support 260,000 jobs by 2015.

Development

Building a better airport

Following an extensive public consultation exercise, we published our Master Plan in 2006; a robust vision for the airport’s future development up to 2030.

The plan details how the airport will grow and develop over the coming years in relation to the information provided by the White Paper on The Future of Air Transport (2003), which supported the continued growth of air traffic at East Midlands Airport.

The plan also concentrates on how East Midlands Airport will accommodate and capitalise upon the expected growth in the UK aviation industry, as the demand from UK passengers is anticipated to continue to grow significantly over the next 20 to 30 years.
